Nice! I like the action pose, and the hair is great! did you sculpt the hair?
They were definitely among the best original Necro minis! Let's hope the new plastics do them justice
Me. I do.. Cheers maxwell, they're my favourite models ever, not at all my best work but I love'em
Who needs new plastic Delaques anyway? Those guys look great
..drybrush iron again. earthshade then nuln oil washes to tone it all down. Should look colorful but grimy Use a desk fan to speed up drying times
prime black. rub on ironcrust. add patches of ironearth. light spray mournfang. drybrush everything bronze then iron. pick out brass and copper. typhus corrosion everywhere. rust: washes/stipples/drybrushing with doombull, mournfang, ryza rust, fire dragon. re-touch then oxide wash brass and copper..
Ta It's a long and flexible process that starts precise but gets variable as ya go.. hard to summarise, giz a minit..
Loving your rust build up, what's the method/colour combo
i thought you’d say something like “Mad Robot” or “Anvil Industies” or something... not that they’re 100% conversions! that’s... that’s... astounding.
The photo labeled 'Old Boss' has a SM Stern Guard head, Gonzo has a Marauder head, the head used on the one labeled 'Charioteer Kitbash' I think came from an Empire canon crewman, and the one labeled 'test conversion' has the same sentinel pilot head as the guy in group shot 1 (I took it off of this model to re-use it.)
group shot 4 - Skull Reaper, Space Marine (couldn't tell you which kit though,) Chaos Lord on Manticore, Marauder, and Hell Strider
group shot 5 - Chaos Lord on Manticore, Marauder Horseman, Space Marine, Greatsword, and Marauder
group shot 1, from left to right are Empire Greatsword, Khorne Skull Reaper, Chaos Warshrine priest, and Catachan Sentinel pilot
group shot 2 - Chaos Space Marine, Skull Reaper, Marauder, and Marauder Horseman
group shot 3 - plastic RT era Imperial Guardsman, Wardshrine priest, Greatsword, and Marauder Horseman again
Thanks @Punktaku (the originals are just shit, aren't they? I had to convert them to make them fit to be seen in public.)
Well, there are a lot of different heads - a lot of them have had hair/headbands/horns etc removed, and they all have Dire Avenger helmet crests added
i can’t believe you made the old plastic goliaths look so good! holy crap! what heads did you use?
Excellent sounds like I'm nailin' it then
....you seriously did head and HAT SWAPS?!
I am in awe
Amazing scenery. I don't even put that much effort into my miniatures.
This is fantastic
I haven't done the leader yet - there is a picture of him on page 10 of my main thread.
You mad fool! Looks mega dude
Dear God man, you're a machine. Top work. Are any of them your leader?
Thanks. It is from the servitor that comes with the Storm Raven.
Nice, what's that torso from?
The Slaaneshinesss goes really well with his sideburn-tache and ponytail, looks greedy and corrupt yet hard and vicious He looks really well-equipped like the chief bruiser of a ruthless guilder should
From Kromlech , you nailed it, it's their version of Slaanesh power armour.
Whoa, space pirate badass, what's this body? Looks like Mk3 Slaaneshi with a bionic leg, what the deuce..?
Martian Ironearth and Ironcrust gives ya lush crustiness to drybrush You'll probably wanna thoroughly seal your MDF first then.. I often spray or otherwise apply water to my plastic scenery and let rust-washes/oxide run down it, might warp the hell out of MDF..
Yeah I was thinking that would be the way to go, so far I've put together a bunch of MDF walkways and some platforms which would be way cooler all rusted up, they've only had a quick drybrush to get them ready for a game, so easy enough to start again
My main tip for weathering/corrosion/rust etc is to think about building it in from the beginning, not paint something clean and then try to weather it
That goo looks proper toxic mate
I was inspired to look up some proper rusting and weathering techniques after checking out this album, when I get round to finishing my terrain paint jobs properly they will be appropriately old and dirty
I may have to get more Haemotrope Reactors just for those 45degree chimney bits
Crazy - it is amazing what you can do with these kits.
Thanks - I am glad that you like my ideas.
The pit slave weapons are all based around the Imperial Guard Sentinel chain weapon (the chainsaw in the middle of the picture of the five different weapons is the bit as it comes off the sprue.) The shears and claw are made from the 'fingers' of a Furioso Dreadnought blood fist and power fist)
Cheers Rust+OSL have become my passions in the last year or so, but I was unsure about adding my usual OSL to this cos it's meant to be a recently re-discovered abandoned factory dome that's been quietly rusting in the dark, but my justification is that someone flipped the right switch or something and the systems are waking up.. I compromised by stopping at the edge paints and barely using any actual white in the light sources, glazing heavily and then a bit of thin Nuln Oil for grime
love how you used the crackle medium on that water tank/box thing.
Very cool build!
The rust combined with the osl looks awesome.
I'm starting to realise my necromunda terrain is much to clean I'll have to see if I can't remedy that.
Thanks for sharing.
ta well, this has taken 4months solid so far but I am running out of space and bits on this one so it's nearly time to start number 2 of 4
Looking forward to seeing the whole board man, this is going to make me very jealous when it's done, I can tell!
Some genius stuff here matey, never seen anyone simply replace the heads on loads of original Goliaths, or use Harlequin parts to make Brats.. Both obvious once you've seen it but I never have, good kitbashing fella. Lush pit slaves too, what kit/maker are the shears and chainsaw bionics on the chief? Killa Kans?
Still buiding, still painting Have added green toxic goo-pit, working on aaaaaaallll the fence sections, ludicrous chimney-stack 99% done
